Biografía

My interest in photography came from a love of backpacking and hiking in wilderness. After honing my skills for several years with 35mm film cameras, I graduated to 4x5 and worked primarily in that format for over 20 years. Now the photographic tools have run full circle and my main camera is a 36 megapixel digital slr. The ease of use and portability of modern dslr compared to the view camera makes me chuckle. Much easier on the back and eyeballs.

Any special artistic influences?
Images by classic landscape photographers working in color with large format cameras inspired me early on. I have several vintage books from Ray Atkeson and David Muench that I've owned for 30 years.
What is the best photographic advice that you have ever received?
Use a tripod and wait out bad weather.
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
Science teacher.
