THP Photo Services, the branch of age fotostock that offers image hosting and marketing services for the stock photography industry, has announced that it has accomplished its objective set for 2007 to make more than 250 brands, or image collections, available on the Technological Hosting Platform (THP).

Since July, THP Photo Services has added to the platform well over 650,000 professionally edited images from 129 different brands; over 20 of these brands come from new providers to the THP. The THP is expected to hold close to 6 million images by the end of the year 2007.

The latest addition to the content mix found on the THP are giving close to 60 global distributors that are part of the THP a very necessary diversity in the selection of content which can help them meet their different market needs for their various type of clients.

To highlight some of the latest additions, we find Arabian Eye, with Royalty Free images with a middle Eastern flavour, NativeStock Pictures with imagery that portrays US Native American people and lifestyle, the Irish Image Collection that portrays a good mix with both Royalty Free and Rights Managed images, The Mexican Collection, TMC, with superior Rights Managed images focusing exclusively on Mexico as a country and culture, or Cultura with highly stylish Royalty Free images focusing on lifestyle in Europe.

Among the themed specialized and select collections, the THP has recently added Red Cover, a supreme Rights Managed collection with images that cover trendy interior design and home lifestyle or DeAgostini Editore images for reference and encyclopedic products covering excellent subjects as archeology, geography, botany, zoology, history, or art. All in all a really well balanced mix of RM and RF images covering well spread market needs and segmentation.

The themes of these new images are intended to supply an existing demand for imagery that reflects changes in the roles and conditions of individuals of all ages, genders and ethnic backgrounds. THP PhotoStorage is aimed at any distributor of stock photography images that would rather concentrate efforts and resources in much needed marketing and communication, than uploading, updating, correcting, withdrawing, re-organizing, and above all, storing millions of images from an ever growing number of sources. In fact, THP PhotoStorage can now allow distributors the freedom to represent as many collections as they want, without all the associated headaches that start with the receipt of a huge supply of high resolution image files to its subsequent upload onto the website.

By joining the network, this full-service stock photo agency, selling Rights Managed and Royalty Free images, has become the second THP agent in Austria and the 53rd THP agent in the worldwide network.

With 25 years of experience in the stock photography industry, the privately owned agency Buenos Dias has decided to embrace the THP technology which will provide it with the tools and support necessary to better compete in today's fast evolving and highly technologically-oriented industry. By shifting over to the THP system, this agency has converted to the THP standards, making the current stock of up to 1.5 million images in its portfolio easier to market and to administer.

This critical partnership will enable the 6 million professionally edited images the THP distributes to be searched using natural language queries. It will be available initially in five languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian and German with possible extensions to Arabic, Russian and Chinese. Thanks to the sophisticated morphological and syntactic algorithms provided by NewPhenix, the result of the search is independent of the language used to formulate it. The wonder of the system will blend smoothly with the DataBase indexing capacities of the solid searching engine that drives the THP. In addition, it will respect the numerous on-the-fly filters required by the complex structure that over 60 THP direct clients use daily, while each distributor has to see a number of specific images and collections.

Pixtal the royalty free brand of the well known stock photo agency age fotostock, launches a new edition of images and CDs to the market.

Under the slogan Take Pixtal: vitamins for the imagination, the collection is offering its clients titles as original as gay couples, biochemistry research, female bodies, or relaxing holiday, among many others. Once again, the collection approaches current issues with a very fresh and contemporary vision and look, and these titles it contains are a proof of the diversity that can be found in Pixtal's content.

This latest release includes 15 new CDs, that add up to 900 images, as well as 1,250 images that are not part of the discs. These numbers, combined with the other two that Pixtal has completed during 2007, makes a total of 52 CDs and nearly 9,000 images added to date this year. This new release enhances the variety of this versatile collection; Pixtal already consists of 350 CDs and over 85,000 images.

THP Photo Services, the business unit from age fotostock that offers hosting and marketing services for the stock photography industry, has organized the first gathering for image providers and distributors that are part of the THP (Technological Hosting Platform).

The gathering took place in Florence, Italy on June 7th coinciding with the CEPIC Congress. This event exceeded the expectations of the organization, with a total of 147 attendees representing 93 international companies, including personnel from large corporations, leaders in the international market, as well as representatives of small and medium sized agencies with specialized imagery or with more limited distribution.

The main goal of the THP Agents and Providers' Meeting was to bring together all the players using the THP to reinforce the sense of business community and to strengthen the communication and the relationships among users, as well as to inform them of future advancements that will happen in the system.

The presentation, imparted by Managing Director at age fotostock, Alfonso Gutierrez, reviewed aspects that have helped extend the knowledge of the philosophy behind the creation of the THP and of the fundamental technology involved in the system. He also talked about current technical and administrative issues affecting the THP today and about future technological developments and changes in the system that will affect its users.

The main change that was communicated at the meeting is that from September on, THP Photo Services will charge image providers fees associated to the uploading, maintenance and administration of the collection of images that are part of the THP. Up to now only distributing agencies were required to pay fees associated to the hosting of images as well as other administrative functionalities. With the introduction of these fees, the efficiency and the quality of the services tailored to stock photography is expected to be even better.

Comments made by Alfonso Gutierrez, General Manager at age fotostock, on the meeting are: "We are very pleased with the good turnout of both THP distributors and providers and with the positive feedback we have received from most attendees. We like to think that the THP has become a cornerstone in the stock photography industry and the positive feedback motivates us to continue moving forward with the developments that will allow us to offer the best solutions to all the users of the platform".

age fotostock has announced the winners of the prizes related to the “Get Hooked on Change” interactive campaign the stock photography agency based out of Barcelona launched this Spring around the presentation of their new website.

The "Get Hooked on Change" campaign was created by age fotostock to draw attention to the changes made on the website, the main sales channel of the agency, and invited its clients to experience certain changes for themselves. This action, that ran during the months of March and April, was well received by image buyers both in the US and Spain, judging by the high number of visits made to the microsites that acted as the center of the campaign, the large amount of registered users who participated in the prize drawing, and the number of positive comments received by the Sales Department in both markets.

The New Year brings new images and CDs, covered in creativity and good taste

Pablo Picasso used to say that the main enemy of creativity is good taste, as it was not easy for him, in his position as a vanguard artist, to bend the rules and to question the aesthetic standards of the moment over and over. But a mixture of talent, tenacity and desire to innovate, reinvent and to introduce a new style turned him into one of the most important and influential artists in history.

Although comparing today s stock photography with the lifework of an artist of this calibre can sound at least pretentious, it might be said that having a necessity to constantly innovate, as well as persistence in seeking a style, and a desire to achieve originality in the content of the final product, are also factors applicable to this business. These should be absolutely obligatory in the production of stock photography, where we also need to add good taste and creativity in order to obtain interesting images that are commercially viable.
