Biography

When I left school I wanted to train as a graphic designer. The company that interviewed me offered me a job as photographic assistant. That was over 50 years ago and I have been a photographer ever since. I went freelance in 1983. I have been an AGE contributor for 30 years or so.
It was much easier to earn a living in the film era. Now the competition is immense and pictures are selling for less.

Any special artistic influences?

Not really, I try not be influenced by the work of others.

What is the best photographic advice that you have ever received?

As an assistant photographer I was once told I would never make it as a photographer. It made me work harder and I hope they were wrong.

If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?

I couldn't consider any other occupation, I still work at trying to get better shots. As long as I can carry a camera that's what I will do.
