It is on La Rambla 99 next to the Boqueria market on the part of La Rambla called ´La Rambla de les Flors.´ This baroque-rococo palace was originally built by the Viceroy of Peru, Manuel Amat i Junyent, who was also the Marquis of Castellbell. He died before moving in and his younger widow lived there for many years hence the name the ´Palace of the Viceroy´s wife.´ Today the Palau de la Virreina belongs to the city of Barcelona. It is partially open to the public for cultural events and art exhibitions under the name ´La Virreina Centre de la Imatge.´ Visit the website for information about current exhibitions
