Fettercain is well known to anyone who listens to Radio Scotland traffic broadcasts in winter because it lies at the southern end of the B974 Cairn O´Mount road, a road that climbs over the eastern extension of the Cairngorms to Banchory. And a road that is regularly the first in Scotland to close when the snows sweep in from the east.
