Stock Photo - Calatayud is a city in the province of Zaragoza, in Aragon. The city was founded on the site of a Celt_Iberian settlement by the Romans with the name Augusta Bilbilis. The modern town was founded by the Moors around the Ayyub castle. The church dates from the 16th century and mixes Mudejar style in its oldest section, with Renaissance influences. The church´s main portal is made of alabaster in Plateresque style and dates from 1526. It was designed by Juan de Talavera and Esteban de Obray. The artistic heritage found in this church is one of the reasons why Calatayud forms part of the Mudejar Route in Aragon, that was declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1986.
