Stock Photo - Sossusvlei is a salt and clay pan surrounded by magnificent red dunes,formed from deposits from the Tsauchab River before its flow was blocked by sand dunes. The word 'Sossusvlei' means 'dead-end marsh' and although the name originally referred to the pan,it now means the large area of huge red dunes that comprise Sossusvlei National Park.
