Stock Photo - Reportage on a goatherd, No?mie, in Haute-Savoie, France. No?mie took over her family farm and has a herd of 75 Alpine dairy goats. Milking is twice a day, morning and evening. Between milking, No?mie converts the milk into various dairy products (cheeses, yoghurts, flans) and handles supply to her clients. No?mie would like to change to organic farming, she feeds her goats with organic cereal and fills the required criteria, but the problem with this transition lies in the choice of goats. To have goats that produce enough milk, she uses an inseminator, inseminating all the goats at the same time. For this No?mie gives a hormone to the goats to fix the dates they are on heat, but this rules out her farm from being certified organic.
