Stock Photo - A small crowd watches the Women's Sunday procession as it passes Portland Place, 21 June 1908. The protesters are almost at the end of their walk to Hyde Park. This was the first major, country-wide demonstration for women?s suffrage. Trains brought women from all over the country to join in; two of the banners read Manchester and Stockport. Speeches were made by the Pankhursts and other suffragettes. Between 200,000 and 300,000 people gathered in Hyde Park, making it one of the largest single demonstrations ever up to that time.
