Stock Photo - dpatop - A picture made available on 29 January 2018 shows Abir (2-R), an 18-year-old Syrian refugee, sitting with her one-year-old daughter Bashaer (R), her 19-year-old sister Amal (2-L) and her three-year-old daughter, Gufran, at a modest apartment in Tripoli, Lebanon, 27 January 2018. Seven-month pregnant Abir and her sister as well as their daughters are survivors of last week's incident, where at least 15 Syrians froze to death while trying to cross illegally from Syria into Lebanon. The smugglers told Abir and her family it would take them half an hour to cross safely, through the mountains. She walked for seven hours in the snow, and lost six family members on the road, including her mother, grandmother and sister. Lebanon, which hosts nearly a million Syrian refugees, decided in January 2015 to severely restrict entry of Syrians by imposing requirements that are considered prohibitive for the underprivileged refugees.
