Stock Photo - 13 May 2020, Brandenburg, Sauen: A white-tailed eagle chick (Haliaeetus albicilla) sits on the forest floor in Sauener Forst. On the same day the offspring was ringed in a nest of the white-tailed eagle. The two volunteers Silvio Herold and Winfried Nachtigall from the Arbeitskreis Wanderfalkenschutz e.V. (AWS) retrieved a young white-tailed eagle chick from the nest in the top of a pine tree. The animal was measured, weighed and provided with two rings each. During this time the parent birds circled over the forest area. After 20 minutes, the little eagle was returned safely to its nest. The Sauen forest district, with its approximately 460 shrub and tree species, has a very long and traditional history, which was established even before August Bier's (1861-1949) times.
