The traditionnal Kay Htein Bo celebration is held once a year in April in most every Kayan village. Itâ. . s an opportunity for Kayan people from all different places and even from Thailand to gather and keep the unity of the tribe. In the late 1980s and early1990s due to conflict with the military regime in Myanmar, many Kayan people fled to the Mae Hong Son province in Thailand close to the Thai Myanmar border.
