Stock Photo - Lulworth Skipper, Thymelicus acteon. Small orange skipper that may be confused with the Large Skipper, Ochlodes sylvanus. Lulworth antennae tips are red, but not hooked. Wingspan: 28-32mm. Females have with checquered pattern on upper wings which are called "sun-ray" patterns. Larval plants include: Brachypodium , Calamagrostis, Elymus sp. Name is derived from Lulworth Cove, Dorset, England in 1832 by James Charles Dale. Habitat: xerothermic and limestone grasslands, tall grass meadows. Flight: June-September.
