Stock Photo - The facade of the former St. Jospeh's Orphan Asylum chapel, ingeniously incorporated into the wall of an apartment condo is revealed upon the demolition of an adjoining building, seen in the Upper East Side neighborhood of New York on Saturday, January 26, 2019. The neo-classical 1898 building was sold off in 1918 and converted into a garage. In 1983 the building was purchased for the construction of a condominium but the facade was left embedding into the side of the new building. The adjoining two story building partially obscured the facade until it was recently demolished for the construction of a new building for the Spence private school. The facade will soon be covered again by the new building. (© Richard B. Levine).
