Stock Photo - Feb. 07, 1966 - Residents in Protest: 250 residents of Thrumaston, a Leicester suburb, travelled by bus to London yesterday, to march the two miles from the the oval to the ministry of Transport. They were protesting that they have been without made-up roads for 15 years and that they have been fobbed off with 'excuse after excuse'. Their placards, ceremonially dumed outside the Ministry, regd: 1966. and all that mud,' 'No roads - no rates, mates' and 'Visitors by boat or drown.' The residents complain that 45 people have been hurt in pot-hole falls, and 7,700 has been spent on house and car repairs and carpet replacements made necessary by the state of the roads.
