Stock Photo - Oct. 10, 1967 - France Prepares For Winter Olympics: consturction teams and buildings gangs are working against th clock to get the projects in and around Grenoble, France, ready for the opening of next winter's Olympic Games. With in two months weather conditions will put a stop to all open-air building programmes. According to Games officials most of the buildings works are running to timetable and should be completed will before Gen de Gaulle opens the games in February. The -50 million budget, much of which is being met by the state, only covers the work being down around Grenoble, which is already being called the 'Brasilia of France'. Other expenditure includes nearly -500,00 for a massive concerts ski jump at St. Nizier, in the mountains overlooking the city. In resorts such as Chamrouse 'Olympic villages' for athletes and officials are being built, and at six other resorts bobsleigh runs, ski slopes, ski lifts and other requirements are being laid out. In Grenoble itself a -7 million railway station is being built, a new airport is being laid out to replace the old one which has become the site of a -10 million residential Olympic town, and a -3 million ice stadium is almost complete.
