Stock Photo - 02 July 2020, Saxony-Anhalt, Zeitz: The drawing of a Christ's head with halo can be seen in the outer facade of the church of St. Michael. The fresco was uncovered during restoration work on the west façade and can be dated to around 1500. It is being restored and will remain visible behind a glass pane in the future. In the 19th century, the head of Christ was located inside the Chapel of the Saints, which was later demolished. It is possible that the niche in which the drawing is located was once used as a reliquary. The Michaeliskirche was first mentioned in a document in 1154. Originally it was a Romanesque basilica with a cross-shaped ground plan. Photo: Hendrik Schmidt/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB. - Zeitz/Saxony-Anhalt/Germany
