Stock Photo - 09 March 2021, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lubmin: A sign with the words ""Schutzwald"" (protective forest) stands in a forest near Lubmin. The Lubmin protection forest covers an area of 83.2 hectares and is located between the boundary of Lubmin, the Lubminer Heide industrial park and the state road 262. It is owned by the state of MV, the waste disposal plant for nuclear facilities (EWN) and several private forest owners. A clear-cutting of the area for a possible residential development or industrial settlement is thus excluded. The tree population in the protection forest is 90 percent common pine. In the understorey and intermediate stand there are mainly late blossoming weeping cherry, oak, birch, rowan, copper beech, maple, hazelnut and deciduous tree.
