The Igel Column is known as the largest Roman pillar tomb north of the Alps that is still preserved. The 23-meter-high monument stands in Igel (Trier-Saarburg district) near Trier - a comprehensive restoration of the Unesco World Heritage Site had been completed in 2015. As a copy, the Igel column also stands in the courtyard of the Rhineland Regional Museum in Trier: The 114-year-old replica, unlike the original, is no longer suitable for restoration and is being rebuilt as a ""copy of the copy"".
