Stock Photo - 14 September 2023, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rattey: Stefan Schmidt, director of the winery, looks at a wine bottle in the wine store of the Rattey Winery. About 20 helpers and the machine harvest the grapes in stages into October on twelve hectares of vines. The winery at the castle has 30 hectares planted with vines, but the other areas are not yet ready for harvesting. In the meantime, 16 different grape varieties are growing in the Rattey vineyard. In addition to Solaris, the white varieties there include Phoenix, Souvignier-Gris and Johanniter, as well as red grapes such as Regent, Rondo and Cabernet Cortis. The vines are new breeds that are inherently fungus-resistant and therefore require less chemical crop protection. Photo: Stefan Sauer/dpa. - Rattey/Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania/Germany
