Stock Photo - 15 August 2021, Saxony-Anhalt, Harzgerode: Early morning fog lies over the Teufelsteich near Harzgerode. The pond was created in the 17th century to ensure the supply of the surrounding mines with water power. The pond owes its name to the Teufelsberg near Silberhütte. Since 1945 the pond has been used as a drinking water reservoir. It can accumulate up to 785000 cubic metres of water. Because of its size, the reservoir has the status of a dam.
