On the same day around 45,000 glass eels were placed in the water of the Groß Schauener Seenkette. The small transparent eels are about seven centimeters in size and weigh 0.3 grams. Born in the Sargasso Sea in the Atlantic Ocean, they needed three years to cross the European coasts with the help of the Gulf Stream.
