The building will be given a new wooden facade cladding. Weather observation on the Brocken has a long tradition. As early as the 18th century, scientists had climbed the highest mountain in the Upper Harz, at 1,142 meters, for weather studies. In 1836, the first permanent observer took up his work there. The construction of a measuring station in 1895 had made the Brocken a meteorological station of the first order. Today, the station of the German Weather Service DWD is fully automated.
