Stock Photo - 17 February 2020, Lower Saxony, Damme: Actors parade through the city centre in colourful costumes in the traditional Rose Monday procession. Since 1893 the fools of Damme have been bringing forward their Rose Monday by one week. At that time the church had ordered a compulsory forty-hour prayer for the carnival period in order to put a stop to the sinful goings-on in many places. The Dammer simply moved their Rose Monday a week earlier, and it has remained that way until today. Photo: Sina Schuldt/dpa. - Damme/Lower Saxony/Germany
