Stock Photo - 19 April 2021, Berlin: A honey bee (Apis mellifera) flies to the blossoms of a mirabelle tree with bulging ""panties"" full of pollen. The fruit, also called ""yellow plum"" (Prunus domestica), flowers relatively early and offers nectar to the insects. To get the nectar, they pick up pollen on the hind leg hairs on a pistil and then fertilize the next flower. Only then can fruits develop. After the long winter rest, the bees use the mild weather to gather food for their brood. Bees fly only when there are several days in a row temperatures in the double-digit range.
