During the Johannisreiten a lad - the Johann - from Casel is decorated with water lilies, rushes, cornflowers and other plants by young women from the village and rides together with his companions. The companions reduce in size each time they ride through. Visitors to the festival try to snatch parts of St. John's head and body ornaments - these are kept and promise a rich harvest for the next year.
