Stock Photo - 21 October 2020, Saxony-Anhalt, Magdeburg: ""Ver.di"" can be read on the red screen of a female public service worker who has come to a strike rally. In Saxony-Anhalt, public service employees have stopped work on Wednesday morning. Among others, the city of Magdeburg is affected, which closed its seven municipal day-care centres and two after-school centres for the day as a result of the announcement. The employers have offered a total of 3.5 percent more wages and salaries in three annual steps for the approximately 2.5 million employees nationwide. The union is demanding a 4.8 percent increase in wages and salaries over a one-year period, but at least 150 euros more per month for kindergarten teachers, bus drivers, garbage workers, town hall employees and other employees.
