The automatic license plate recording, which has been practiced for several years, has been controversial, as time and again bystanders had been caught in the manhunts. With the amendment of the Code of Criminal Procedure on July 1 of this year, the mass recording of license plates is now only allowed in the case of a specific manhunt, but no longer a permanent surveillance.
