The newbuilding at the Stralsund MV shipyard for the Genting Group is the first of two ice-bound expedition cruise ships. The management of MV Werften had announced that more than a third of the approximately 3,000 jobs at the MV Werften with sites in Wismar, Warnemünde and Stralsund were up for grabs. The multinational Genting Hong Kong, which had taken over the shipyards in 2016, had run into difficulties in the wake of the Corona pandemic.
