Stock Photo - 23 January 2019, Saxony, Chemnitz: A tram train (r) from the so-called Chemnitz model enters the main station. The Chemnitz model links trams and railways according to the tram-train principle. There are a total of four lines on which passengers can travel from the city centre of Chemnitz to the neighbouring towns of Stollberg, Burgstädt, Mittweida and Hainichen without having to change trains. According to Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS), this will reach a conurbation of 800,000 people and thus increase the attractiveness of rural areas.
