The ""Grützpott"", remnant of a medieval castle, towers high above the Oder and is nowadays a tourist attraction. The Lower Oder Valley National Park lies between Hohensaaten and the Polish city of Szczecin. Since 1993, the Polish part with about 6,000 hectares has been designated as a protected landscape park, since 1995 the German part with about 10,500 hectares has been designated as a national park.
