Early Friday morning two freighters collided in the Baltic Sea off the island of Rügen. In the accident eight nautical miles off the coast, the Norwegian freighter ""Norvind"" was leaked, and there had been a major water ingress. Both freighters, next to the ""Norvind"" the ship ""Beate"" sailing under German flag, were able to sail into the port of Sassnitz-Mukran on their own, but accompanied by two rescue cruisers.
