Stock Photo - 25 October 2021, Saxony, Seiffen: Wooden toy maker Markus Füchtner turns the basic body for a nutcracker in his workshop in Seiffen. In 1870, Füchtner's great-great-great-grandfather is said to have made the first Erzgebirge nutcracker, as they stand for the Erzgebirge today all over the world alongside smokers and pyramids. The handicraft business continues the old tradition and has now, for the first time, flown a mini nutcracker into space. The nutcracker, named after the founder Wilhelm Füchtner, has traded his home in the Erzgebirge for outer space. He will soon make his grand appearance on the ISS space station. In the cosmos, Wilhelm is not only an ambassador for the Ore Mountains, but also for the European Capital of Culture 2025. Photo: Hendrik Schmidt/dpa-Zentralbild/dpa. - Seiffen/Saxony/Germany
