Stock Photo - 26 September 2023, Saxony, Schkeuditz: Heiko Köppe (front) and Fabrice Sander from mtex antenna technology GmbH assemble the prototype of an 18-meter parabolic antenna as part of what will be the world's largest radio telescope. The ""Very Large Array"" (VLA) in the US state of New Mexico dates back to the 1970s and is now to be replaced by the next generation (ngVLA). Instead of the current 28 antennas, 244 of these 18-meter antennas will be located in New Mexico and other U.S. states in the future. The upgrade will significantly expand the capabilities of the current system and increase frequency sensitivity from 50 GHz to over 100 GHz. Photo: Jan Woitas/dpa. - Schkeuditz/Saxony/Germany
