Stock Photo - 29 January 2019, Brandenburg, Sauen: The ivy overgrown and partly collapsed building of the old steam brickworks. The Philipp Holzmann & Cie. steam tile factory, which is located in today's August Bier Foundation forest, started operations in 1891 and produced facing bricks, shaped bricks and roof tiles until 1912. Up to five different types of bats spend the winter every year in the vaults, some of which have already collapsed. These also include protected species such as the pug bat and the mouse ear.
