Among the highlights of the program under the motto ""Consecrated for Eternity"" is a procession during which the cathedral will ceremoniously receive a new bell. According to tradition, Merseburg Cathedral was consecrated on 1 October 1021 in the presence of Emperor Heinrich II and his wife Kunigunde.
