Stock Photo - ***FILE PHOTO*** The Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of Czech parliament, elected former deputy ombudsman Stanislav Krecek, 81, as the new ombudsman in the second round of a secret ballot on February 12, 2020, lower house election commission head Martin Kolovratnik has told MPs. Krecek, nominated by President Milos Zeman, received 91 out of 175 votes. He will replace Ombudsman Anna Sabatova, whose six-year mandate expires next week. Krecek's rival candidate was lawyer Vit Alexander Schorm, the government representative at the European Court of Human Rights, nominated by the Senate.
