The trial of the four suspects in the case of the murder of reporter Jan Kuciak, which stirred mass anti-government protests in Slovakia and toppled Robert Fico (Smer-SD) as PM in the spring of 2018, started with the reading of the charges at the Special Court in Pezinok. The suspects in this case, which Slovak daily Sme described as the most closely-watched in the country's modern history and one of the largest in terms of the size of evidence, are Marian Kocner, Alena Zsuzsova, Tomas Szabo and Miroslav Marcek.
