Stock Photo - 1952 - A Sussex Village Which Will Be Seen By The World: A film of village life and scenes made by the Central Office of Information at the beautiful Sussex village of Harting is being sent all round the world to show people something of rural England. Harting, nestling at the western end of the South Downs valley, was chosen as the model village because it had a fine church, grand so energy and the compactness needed to make a film. Before the film goes out to the world, villagers themselves will have a chance of seeing it in their local cinema. Featured in it are village children and the school, village worthies and the village children and the school, village worthies and the two pubs, one -ting back to 1688. Harting has some very fine examples of Sussex thatched roofs, and many other timbered cottages, and altogether has an air of tidy, comfortable rural life.
