Stock Photo - A flight control team of about two dozen JSC-based personnel continues its preparations for EFT-1, or Exploration Flight Test 1, in a flight control room inside the Christopher C. Kraft Jr. Mission Control Center. Flight director Mike Sarafin studies data on a computer at his console. The team has been working together for two years, and just recently joined with the Mission Management Team, the Test and Launch Control Center and the Engineering Support Team -- all located at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida -- in a fully integrated simulation, the first of several scheduled over the next few months. Covering the pre-launch and in-orbit phases of Orion's mission, the teams jointly deal with the kinds of problems that could require real-time decisions before and during the actual mission.
