Stock Photo - Bird's eye view of the union workhouse in Frederick Road, Hastings, Sussex. The original 1837 buildings (centre/right of picture) were designed by Sampson Kempthorne. A new workhouse (above/left of centre) opened nearby in 1903. Tents stand next to the chapel (far left). The site was a First World War military hospital, dealing mainly with Canadian troops. It later became St Helen's Hospital.
