Stock Photo - Captain Charles Kingsford Smith's aeroplane, the Southern Cross (VH-USU), in which he and others made the first fully successful westbound North Atlantic flight on 23-24 June 1930, flying from Ireland to Newfoundland. The route was from Portmarnock Beach (near Dublin) to Harbour Grace (Newfoundland), distance 1,900 miles. The time taken was 31 hours 30 minutes.
