The tiny country of Nepal hosts the worldÕs highest mountain peaks, including Mt Everest, which has an elevation of 8,848 meters. Tibet (currently under Chinese control) sits on NepalÕs northern border, and India surrounds Nepal on the south, east, and west. In the lower left corner of the image, a pall of thin grey haze has built up at the foot of the Himalaya.
