Stock Photo - Ephesus is an ancient city in the central Aegean region of Turkey, near contemporary Selçuk. Its excavated remains reflect centuries of history, from classical Greece and the Roman Empire, when it was the main commercial center of the Mediterranean, to the spread of Christianity. Southwest of Selçuk is the House of the Virgin Mary, a pilgrimage site where Mary supposedly spent the last years of her life.
