Stock Photo - In ancient Egypt, painted wall frescoes depicting everyday life often decorated interior tomb walls, such as this one found in a tomb in Thebes. In the upper register a seated scribe prepares to make a list of the geese being brought before him. Below are herders with their geese. One herder is placing geese in a basket, while the scribe, now standing unrolls a new sheet of papyrus to render the accounts. The painting dates to the 18th Dynasty (c. 1570- 1293 B. C. ).
