The competition, organised by the Pipe Club of Great Britain, is sponsored by Ogden's and Bryant & May Ltd. The winner was H. Hancock, of Wollaton, Nottingham, who kept a clay pipeful of tobacco alight the longest. The winner received -1000 and the St. Bruno trophy.
