He learned modern business me thods in America and applies them to racing. His set-up in Chantilly, a lovely little place about 15 miles from Paris comprises a gadget unique in Europe: A swimming pool where his racing horses can have a bath and a swim after training just as athletes taking a shower after a routine exercise swimming is supposed to strengthen The horses legs and makes them lose weight if necessary. The pool is 66 M. long and 2,50 Meters deep. in cold weather it is placed under a plastic tent and the water is warmed up to a convenient degree.
