Stock Photo - Mar. 29, 1957 - Joachim-Gottschalk-Portrait for the Frankfurt-Town-Theatre. The Berlin sculptor Knud Knudsen, who lives at Bad Nauheim, received an order by the Town of Frankfurt, to create a large sculpture in memory of the unforgettable actor Joachim Gottschalk for the main Frankfurt-Town-Theatre. Gottschalk, who committed suicide with his Jewish wife and his child in 1941, when he became aware that he could not prevent the deportation to Theresienstadt, had his first big success at Frankfurt before the war. The bronze sculpture will be paid mainly by donations of the Frankfurt citizens. OPS: Knud Knudsen puts the finishing touches to the clay-model of the Gottschalk-sculpture.
