Stock Photo - Roman sketchbook, Gauffier, Louis, 1761-1801, pencil, pen and black and brown ink, grey and brown wash, and black and white chalk, 1784-1789, executed during the artist's stay in Rome at the Acadeìmie de France as a recipient of the Grand Prix de Rome. Twenty-four drawings depict urban views of Rome, some inscribed by monument (including S. Gregorio, S. Lorenzo Fuori delle Mura, S. Giovanni Laterano, Villa Negroni, Villa Mattei). The remaining sketches are landscapes and figure studies, some after classical sculpture.
