Stock Photo - Sehel island in the Nile River just north of Aswan was sacred to the goddess Anukis and her husband Khnum. There are many carved inscriptions dating from the Middle Kingdom,with images of pharoahs and gods,and heiroglyphics on the rocks of the island. The Famine stone is a large block of cuniform writing recording a 7 year famine during Zoser´s reign.
